Born December 19, 1936, in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Harry B. Claus, Sr. and Gertrude (Schall) Merrick.

       He and his wife, Phyllis (Murray) Claus, celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on March 3, 2023.

Charles graduated from Easton High School Class of 1956.

       He retired from PP & L.

       Charles enjoyed hunting and fishing.

       He was a member of St. John’s Church on Morgan Hill, where he sang in the choir for 60 years.

Charles was a life member of Williams Township Fire Company.

       Surviving in addition to his wife, Phyllis, is a son, Charles A. “Chip” Claus, Jr., of Easton; two daughters, Cynthia J. “Cindy” Claus and her life partner David Tanzosh, of Wind Gap and Dracie L. Claus and her husband Jeff Happel, of Williams Township; two sisters, Florence Boyer and her husband Leo, of Phillipsburg, NJ and Jean Lazarus, of Lehighton; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Harry B. Claus, Jr. and a sister, Ida Merrick.

       Private graveside services will be held in St. John’s Union Cemetery under the direction of the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Easton. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com.
